Innovation anchors Bomaid to survive COVID- 19 pandemic

Innovation has propelled Bomaid operations, despite the ongoing COVID- 19 pandemic vastly threatenin­g the health sector.

Bomaid Chief Executive Officer, Moraki Mokgosana said innovation has spurred the company’s overall growth. “We focused on completing our five year strategy which saw us conclude our digitisati­on journey and kickstart the Thobo core administra­tion system,” said Mokgosana. The CEO said implementi­ng the class- leading Thobo operation system was a key developmen­t in delivering increased customer service satisfacti­on.

“Through it ( Thobo), Bomaid was able to manage business processes better and respond to urgent issues quicker. This system and other contributi­ng infrastruc­ture were crucial developmen­ts that enabled staff to seamlessly attend to members whilst working remotely from home.

“Similarly, the recently introduced Bomaid App ensured better self service levels for Members, giving them more control and access,” said Mokgosana. Sharing his sentiment, Bomaid Chief Operations Officer, Thato Kubu said over the last 12 months, the company has tirelessly pursued member health and happiness through innovation on health cover, administra­tion systems, digital channels and partnershi­ps.

“We believe it is these initiative­s that cemented Bomaid’s leading position in the local medical aid industry. “Currently, Bomaid members enjoy products such as the topical COVID 19 benefit which is our holistic response to the pandemic. Its key features include 100 percent hospitalis­ation, testing, evacuation, supplement­s, home care and psycho- social support,” said Kubu.

Meanwhile, Bomaid, was recently awarded the PMR Diamond Arrow Award for being the best Medical Aid Fund in the country. The PMR Awards recognise top performing companies and institutio­ns in their sectors over the past 12 months who have contribute­d to the economy and developmen­t of Botswana.

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to share this award with our Members whom we credit for motivating us to remain the best medical aid in the country,” said Mokgosana adding that innovation has stimulated the company’s growth during the year reviewed. “The award is also a crowning achievemen­t for Bomaid in our 50th year of operation and a much welcome testament to delivering above the expectatio­ns of our members,” said Mokgosana.
