Poet, author, and performer, Boitshepo Catherine Mack has published her second book titled ‘ Girls that make it to the Top’. The 26- yearold young lady from Molepolole, is an IT lecturer by profession. Her first book titled ‘ Dare to Become, a poetry anthology’ was published in 2018. In her second book, she aims to empower females to get to their desired destinies. The book was recently published and launched in July in Windhoek. She worked with Miss South Africa 1994, Mrs. Basetsana Kumalo who wrote the foreword for the book.

The 152- page book comprises of sixteen chapters, and it has chapters that touch on topics such as toxicity and self- introspection, self- discipline, gratitude, the role that relationships play in success, mentorship, mind power, emotional intelligence, confidence, and self- sabotage to mention a few. It was self- published, and is on sale for P180.

In an interview, Mack explains that she is driven by a passion to see the girl child take charge of her life and success. This book unearths issues of self- confidence, identity issues and all other factors that may hinder success for the girl child, she says.

“I love seeing people evolve and become the very best version of themselves. I love seeing women who are not afraid to grab life by the horns and just flourish hence my desire to inspire and rejuvenate the energy to become successful in women and the girl child. Which is where my book, ‘ Girls that make it to the top’ comes in,” she says.

She says that oftentimes, one might find that they have capabilities, but unfortunately do nothing or minimal action to ensure that these capabilities become a reality. She further says that society has placed so many expectations on the female to a point where they end up being governed and caged by these expectations.

“Girls that make it to the top is a guidebook set to enable the female to set herself free from stereotypes and write her own life story. It speaks largely of issues surrounding the girl child being self- sabotage, confidence, relationships & the power of association, mentorship, mind power and discipline, the list goes on,” she explains in an interview.
