McDonald experience inspires Burger 808

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Burger 808 is one local spot where one would enjoy crunchy, juicy and bigger burgers with a variety of flavour to choose from.

The brain behind Burger 808, Kago Israel says all she has been looking for in a burger is a mouth- watering flavour that is packed to a satisfying size. She shares with BG Style that her McDonalds experience in South Africa inspired what Burger 808 offers today.

She offers her mouth- watering and juicy burgers with a tagline ‘ Burgers with Attitude’ and is convinced that her product speaks for itself not only through pictures but through quality taste. Burger 808 started operating in 2018, and Israel tells BG Style that since she is not a chef by profession, she refers to herself as ‘ chef by Indians’. This she explains to say, Indians appreciate spices and they always nail it when it comes to serving spicy food. She thus had to be creative enough to make her own flavours and tells BG Food Court that she ended with seven yummy flavours to give variety to the burger lovers. Her flavours include; Lucy Juicy Crunchy Burger, Smashed cheeseburger, Guacamole cheese burger, The Rush- inn burger, Spicy chicken Bacon Burger, Cheese Crunch and Mushroom burger. Israel says these flavours actually set her apart from other burger outlets, because she just had to make sure that she serves the best flavour and taste. “From the feedback that we get so far, we are convinced that we are doing something right.

The feedback is actually overwhelming. Sometimes one would buy one burger and a few minutes later come back for more. They always say that, they have never tasted a good burger like one from Burger 808, to a point that they always encourage me to open a proper restaurant,” she says.

She adds that the only ‘ bad’ feedback is when they get so many orders and sometimes not deliver on time. “However, they forget everything after their orders have been delivered,” giggles Israel. “The fact that McDonalds burger was tasty and affordable just gave me that courage to also make good burgers locally. I remember that I even bought one for my friend.
