KAY NAILS IT

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

The world of beauty is diverse in so many ways, especially for women. Some embrace facial makeup while others are particular with their manicure and pedicure. Kay Nails has just launched quality nail gel colours for the lovers of manicure and pedicure.

Owner of Kay Nails It, Keorapetse Masipa has just made life easier for the lovers of nail beauty through her lovely nail colours. She boasts 15 different colours one can choose for any occasion, be it for a wedding, office or just casual occasions. Like any other girl growing up, she would play around with girly colours, try makeup and always painted her nails. Sooner or later, she admitted that, in fact, she was obsessed with art, and had to do something with her passion. “I appreciate girly stuff a lot and with my love for art, it only made sense for me to work in the nail industry. I can fuse my love for drawing cartoons with nails, and this has allowed me to explore and come up with these many new nail colours,” says Masipa. She believes so much in lifestyle and quality, and tells BG Style that she has observed that most people like gel as compared to ordinary nail polish. Her plan was to fill the gap by manufacturing these colours locally.

She is of the view that gel looks lovely on nails, whether long or short, which is why she selected it. Besides, she highlights that gel is known for enhancing nail growth which she says is an advantage for many people who prefer their natural nails. What sets her apart from other nail bars is the fact that her love for art helps her to do outstanding creations on nails. “I do gel overlays and various nail extensions, with varying hand drawn art,” she explains. Some of her services, she says include; rubber base enforcement, gel plus tips, acrylic plus tips, gel toes, gel toes plus tips, gel overlay ombre or French, acrylic plus tips ombre, full chrome ( natural nails), full chrome gel plus tips and full chrome tips plus acrylic. She is currently based at Block Three in Gaborone and hopes to have different outlets around, in the future.

As new as she is in the market, Masipa is content about the feedback that she receives. “The feedback is beautifully overwhelming. Batswana are really supportive and other nail technicians order these colours for their work,” she says. She anticipates to see Kay Nails It grow and serving as a one stop shop for everything about nails. Having a nail colour brand gives her the confidence to do well within the nail industry, which she says has not been common in Botswana. She aims at selling her products internationally one day, and do tutorials.
