Jesus got my back
Tshepo Lesole releases a single
Days may be dark with everything that has been swirling around us, but Jesus has got our back. That is the universal message that Tshepo Lesole wants everyone to remember. The talented Lesole, a strong apostle when it comes to the Gospel of the lord, is sharing that message in his latest music release titled, Jesus got my back.
The single sees him featuring Nigerian songbird Naomi Classik. Released on Thursday last week, it was recorded and produced by Lesole at his Hi- Note Productions studio. In true style with the new normal, all the work that needed to be done on the album was done virtually. A couple of days after its release, it has been well received, and the feedback has been phenomenal.
The song sees him embracing the Afro beat genre, and a bit of some Nigerian sound. He explains in an interview with this publication that the song seeks to inspire and spread the gospel that seasons come and go, and that what many might be going through today due to the Corona pandemic will come to pass, and that there is life on the other side.
“This is a song that seeks to inspire and encourage everyone that God is watching over us, and that he has not forsaken us,” he says. The song is available for streaming and downloading on digital music stores/ platforms. The video for the single is coming soon.
He notes that he has known Classik for about three years, and that they have always wanted to do some work together. Now was that time.
One of the key developments from the new normal is how it has opened up a whole new world where everything is done digitally. In the past, a collaboration like this might have necessitated for one of the artists to travel, which comes with some logistical costs.
So far, he has close to three collaborations/ duets, with two/ three under wraps. One of his collaborations is with DJ KG Smalls of SA. And instead of a full album, he is toying with the idea of releasing an EP featuring all of these duets. “I have been doing a lot of collaborations, and I think that I have enough material for an EP,” he says.
He further shares that like a lot of people across the world, he too was not prepared for what would happen when Covid- 19 first hit us. Pre Covid- 19, many people were into doing business physically, but that has since changed. This is a step in the right direction. “We have grown in terms of digitizing our work, and even how we sell our music. It will take time for most of us to adjust but we will get there,” he says.
