Galaxy collides with Simba
Following the preliminary stages action, Jwaneng Galaxy are where they want to be in the CAF Champions League as they now look to put both feet in the Group Stages of the prestigious interclub tournament.
Next on their agenda is Simba SC at the National Stadium this Sunday. The possible start of Galaxys’ Champions League campaign begins with a true test against Dar es Salaam based side who have been consistently performing in the Champions League and have been dominant in their League in Tanzania.
However, the Botswana Football League defending
Champions have been in a good mood lately in the tournament. Despite the lack of match fitness and inadequate game time, the players look hungry and their willingness to fight cannot be overemphasized.
Head coach Morena Ramorenoli will likely lead the line with Resaobaka Thatanyane and there is a possibility of three attackers behind him with Thabang Sesinyi, Themba Dhladla and Lemogang Maswe all available for the match. However, with numbers in attack, the Debswana backed side will also add numbers to their defense which is likely to be supported by a two pivoted midfield.
Gilbert Baruti has been a revelation in the middle of the park since the departure of Lebogang Ditsele and is
likely to start in his new role, where he will be expected to launch attacks from deep and influence the press from midfield. Gape Mohutsiwa is the likely partner as their partnership has been observed by many as the perfect combination.
Mphoyamodimo Keiponye and Lesego Keredilwe also have been a consistent pairing in the heart of the defense and Ramorenoli is not the one to gamble and change things in such a critical position. Thabo Leinanye and Moagi Sechele will be operating from the wide areas of the defense.
Should something not go well for the coach the likes of Tebogo Sembowa, Lucky Mokoena, Gofaone Molapi, Wendell Rudath and Doctor David will always be available to pick up the chips.
In an interview this week, team mouthpiece, Tankiso Morake said
the team is in good shape except that Gofaone Molapi and Gift Moyo are out with injuries.
On the flipside, bitter rivals Orapa United will entertain Cotton Sport in the CAF Confederations Cup; the Ostriches have seen their floundering attack blank in the previous games and that has been a major concern for Phillimon Makhwengwe and the entire technical team in Orapa.
The team plays on Sunday and are expected to hit the ground running and bang in the goals as they set eyes on the group stages as well.
The Ostriches are without any injuries and club spokesperson, Amelton Gaefhele said the team is in great shape and they are ready to take on their opponents. Their focus is to be victorious in the first leg so that they hold an advantage when they are on the road.
