Avani Lifestyle hosts DJ Zinhle

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

Avani Gaborone Resort and Casino will present Avani Lifestyle, fired up with DJ Zinhle on November 24th. It will mark the second edition of the Avani lifestyle event, and was initially pencilled for last year but Covid- 19 happened and was erased. An annual event, it forms part of Avani’s long term vision of positioning and showcasing the company’s property as the social and sport hub of Gaborone and introducing highend lifestyle events. In the inaugural edition of the highly successful event, South Africa’s J Something from Mi Casa band, shared pearls of wisdom and showed off his skills in the kitchen. A full line- up will be shared in due course.

Zinhle, born Ntombezinhle Jiyane, is a South African DJ, producer, media personality and business woman. She recently gave birth to her second child. She is not only a DJ but one of enterprising South African celebrities with a number of business ventures under her name. She acquired equity in the Boulevard brand, and stepped in as CEO of sparkling wine brand. This year, she unveiled the BLVD signature edition Nectar rose MCC. She founded Jiyane Atellier, which she co- owns with Brandon Reynolds. Her sunglasses range, Era by Zinhle, a fashion accessory business is doing very well in the market, and has a line of other accessories.

To capture the new milestone in her life, she is currently giving her fans front seats view of what is happening in her daily life through her recently launched reality television dubbed, The Unexpected, comprising of 13 episodes. It premiered on BET ( DStv) in September.

According to the Marketing Executive of Avani, Thapelo Mmono, all of the achievements that the DJ has attained makes her the right fit for this event. She explains that they want to conceptualise events that just go beyond people going out to have fun. And Zinhle fits like a glove. She also says that the fact that Zinhle has several successful businesses makes her the perfect guest who can come and share her experiences with others. “We are trying to move away from doing events for fun,” she explains adding that the Cooking with J Something is testament that they want to offer clients with something different. J Something is a serial entrepreneur with several ventures including a Gin line, cook book as well as a successful music career.

“We do not want people to leave our events without getting anything out of them,” she points out.

Although they are yet to finalise the programme of events, she explains that the Dj will have conversations with the guests, talk to aspiring DJs about her journey and inspire them, and also have a set where she will perform.

She further says that beyond this event, and the other events that they will conceptualise, they wish to showcase the best of the hospitality, and get people to appreciate the beauty of Botswana through activities, including visiting attractions such as the Three Dikgosi Monument, the Mokolodi Nature Game Reserve, and then heading to Avani for a night or two, dinner with family or a game of volleyball with friends.

“This is something that I am very passionate about. We package our events a certain way. We want to position ourselves as the preferred social spot,” she explains, noting that if one can’t afford to do something, there is always something that they can do without breaking their bank account.

For this particular event, she explains that they are looking for partnerships with local companies, such as Make up artists, designers and others.

“We want a local artist to come in and do her make up, and a local designer to dress her with the hope that they might get their big break,” says Mmono.
