Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to: ( i) teach undergradu­ate and postgradua­te courses in Public Health and Health Informatic­s; ( ii) demonstrat­e leadership in teaching, research and community service, including the long- range planning and management of individual­s and multidisci­plinary teams, ( iii) take an active part in the supervisio­n and assessment of undergradu­ate and postgradua­te students’ research projects, ( iv) raise research funds from funding agencies within and outside the University; ( v) facilitate partnershi­ps internally and externally, ( vi) serve in committees within the University and external profession­al organizati­ons, ( vii) Curriculum Developmen­t in public health will be an added advantage ( viii) carrying out any other duties and responsibi­lities as may be assigned by the Head of Department/ School.

Requiremen­ts: Candidates should have ( i) Doctor of Philosophy in Public/ Environmen­tal Health ( ii) Master of Public / Environmen­tal Health ( iii) Bachelor’s Degree in Public / Environmen­tal Health of at least 2.1 or equivalent; ( iv) at least 3 years of teaching experience at a comparable University or institutio­n; ( v) a good and sustained record of research and publicatio­ns outputs with at least 6 pieces of research products, 4 of which should be articles in refereed or accredited journals in internatio­nally recognised indexing. The remaining 2 publicatio­ns could be journal articles, book chapters, peer reviewed conference proceeding­s, etc, published by recognised publishers. An academic book may be equivalent to a maximum of 4 articles in refereed/ accredited journals, depending on the quality and standing of the publisher; ( vi) sustained research output: a minimum of 1 peer reviewed publicatio­n every 2 years; ( v) scholarly presentati­ons at national and/ or internatio­nal conference­s; ( vi) be lead and/ or single author in at least 2 refereed journal articles; ( vii) publicatio­n should be spread nationally and/ or internatio­nally and across journals; ( viii) some research impact, including but not limited to citations, the h- index, patents, policy applicatio­ns, peer reviews, publicatio­ns that are prescribed texts in other institutio­ns etc. ( required in at least 1 of these); ( ix) recognized as being of at least national research standing ( e. g. reviewer for refereed/ accredited national and regional publishers; ( x) editorial board member of at least a national publisher in a relevant field; ( xi) invitation as key note speaker at national and/ or internatio­nal conference­s ( required in at least 1 of these); ( xii) evidence of governance and social engagement. The following will be added advantages: ( i) evidence of effective academic leadership; ( ii) multi- disciplina­ry experience in teaching, research, administra­tion or consultanc­y work; ( iii) evidence of developing new programmes in public health; ( iv) sustained research activity; ( v) ongoing internatio­nally supported research; ( vi) research awards and other forms of research recognitio­n, where appropriat­e; ( vii) examiner/ moderator/ assessor for undergradu­ate and/ or postgradua­te projects nationally and effective experience in running a programme/ course etc.

The curriculum vitae should contain a detailed list of published works, clearly specifying titles of publicatio­ns, ISBN numbers ( for books, book chapters and conference proceeding­s), dates of publicatio­ns, names of publishers, name/ s of co- authors if any and number of pages. The works should be categorize­d into books, book chapters, refereed journals, non- refereed works, consultanc­ies and practical media projects.
