CHAMPAGNE PICNIC IS BACK

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

The Gaborone International Music & Culture Week returns after an almost two- year hiatus due to the Covid- 19 pandemic. Kicking off the event, is none other than the glitzy and glamorous Champagne Picnic event, slated to take place on December 4th. Even more spectacular is how the event organisers have sought a different type of venue for this much anticipated event. The venue happens to be Purple Paradise located at Oodi.

With sprawling lawns and a spacious space, the venue will work best especially during this time of Social Distancing.

This will be the seventh edition of the GIMC Week events. Other events will follow in 2022. The last array of events that make up the GIMC week were last held in 2019. And this return has been met with excitement from those who have been longing to have a different type of fun and throw caution in the wind. Each reveller will get a complimentary bottle of Moet. And tickets are going for P2500.

One thing that always sets this glamorous event apart from all other events, is the whole concept behind it. Champagne Picnic is held on an almost similar format/ concept as other international events such as Met Gala or the Durban July. When it comes to décor, this is everything as it sets the mood and atmosphere for what will happen. When one attends the Champagne Picnic, dress code is everything. And revellers go all out when it comes to nit- picking what they will be wearing. Every year, those who attend, both male and female, go all out, and come dressed in their finest attires to stand out in the crowd. Beyond the fashion, and décor, this will be the best place to network and talk business for those who might wish to mix business with a bit of fun.

Event organiser, Fish Pabalinga, tells this publication that the GIMC Champagne Picnic event remains the lifestyle event of choice. Speaking in an interview, he notes that as they make the big return, they are ready to go all out and show why their event is one of the best in the country. Pabalinga also reveals that they are returning with a twist this year, and that they will follow all Covid- 19 protocols, and guidelines.

“We are launching a new venue. This venue is one of the best, and it has everything that suits the event; an upmarket venue,” he says.

He also says that those who are attending and will buy tickets can expect a top- notch event that will be graced by influential people ranging from diplomats and key decision makers.

He also calls on companies to use the event as an opportunity to take their employees out, and forget about Covid- 19 and the stress of the past months. He also states that they are very selective with all the finer details that have made this event what it has been for the past years. This, he says includes the music that is played on the day.

“Performances are not the main attraction of the event,” says Pabalinga. He also says that the fashion element and the company that revellers will keep is what makes the event what it is. “It is a quality event,” he says in short.
