Avani, Girlfriends Series kickstart a woman empowerment initiative
The Avani Passion Powered Conversations, together with The Girlfriends Series, are pencilled to host a series of summit events that seek to uplift, encourage and empower through powerful conversations.
The event will be hosted by the premium lifestyle venue, namely Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino on October 28th.
The event will see two of Botswana’s most powerful and successful women, the newly appointed University of Botswana Chancellor, Tebelelo Seretse and former diplomat and corporate leader, Dorcus Kgosietsile share experiences on personal growth and creating sustainable growth for their brands. Also happening at the event, will be a group of 10 ladies who call themselves Club10, opening up about how they grew from a small motshelo to an investment giant causing waves in the business world.
The event is supported by White Label Fragrance, Benju Distributors, and Graham Beck Bubbly. The Girlfriend Series is a project conceptualised by Monahali Ntshole- Hall.
Speaking in an interview with this publication, the Marketing Executive of Avani, Thapelo Mmono, explains that the event will be held in a brunch set- up.
The event seeks to create a platform where women of a certain demography can talk, share and laugh through life’s important questions, focusing on key themed topics of Finance, Family/ Children, Self Care and Self Love, as well as Personal image, and
home and travel. Part of the topics will also touch a bit on expectant mothers.
The target market, she says is a mobile career woman who runs a home and aspires to have a family one day or already does.
“This woman also love finer things in life, and
works hard to attain them. She is interested in financial growth, and her overall well being and loves to travel and catch up with like- minded friends over drinks.
She also loves to look good and community is important to her,” she explains.
She also notes that the dress code is Summer Breeze, Flower Bomb, or Earthly Chic. Each guest will walk away with a gift. And there will be flowing non alcoholic and alcoholic beverage during the three- hour event.
Seretse is the first woman to serve as Ambassador to the USA, and is widely known for her rich political career. She also happens to be very passionate about farming and mentoring young women.
Kgosietsile is a former High Commissioner to India, a former FNB board member, and Former Group CEO of Funeral Services Group, and NonExecutive member of Botho College University. Together, they are part of an all- female investment group that started twenty years ago as a motshelo. At the time, each member contributed P50 when they first started, until they spotted an opportunity to come together and go for bigger investments. Trading under the name Club10, today, their portfolio comprises of both commercial and residential properties under their name.
The October 28th event is one of three events that Avani will be hosting for its diverse clientele. Another event to look out for happens to be the Pop and Vibes Session event happening this Saturday ( October 23rd).
The event will see revellers having a bit of fun in a picnic type of setup in the garden, and sipping on some chilled Ice Tropez. On November 20th, South Africa’s DJ Zinhle will set fire to the resort in an event dubbed ‘ Fired up with DJ Zinhle.
