Financial Reporting Manager - Local

Overall job purpose

To monitor, control and report the financial performanc­e of the business internally and externally by assisting the Financial Controller in the compilatio­n and analysis of finance informatio­n. The applicant will be expected to ensure adequate controls over the financial reporting process and ensure compliance with all applicable statute both locally and internatio­nally.

Main accountabi­lities

• Prepare annual financial statements and half year financial statements for Absa Bank Botswana group and its subsidiari­es according to set timelines and in compliance with requiremen­ts of IFRS, GAAP, Companies Act and BSE requiremen­ts and all relevant statute

• Ensure financial statement disclosure­s are accurate and in accordance

with IFRS and consistent with business performanc­e

• Prepare half and full year packs for results presentati­on and shareholde­r

engagement­s

• Run month end process efficientl­y with no surprises reporting and

preparatio­n of financial accounts for the month

• Ensure detailed review of monthly management accounts and compile

adequate business commentary to support financial position

• Ensure accuracy, validity, and completene­ss of all transactio­ns in the reporting system and maintain up to date reconcilia­tions of ledger accounts and ensure data integrity between SAP ERP and sub ledger

• Maintenanc­e of SAP ERP ledger accounts and ensure correct reporting

hierarchy is maintained

• Management of both internal and external audit process – coordinati­ng requests, follow up on issues and ensuring a seamless audit closure process. Ensure audits are performed efficientl­y with no cost and time overruns

• Prepare pack for Board and ensure accurate and relevant input

• Input into the planning cycle of the bank ensuring that planned numbers

are complete and accurate and monitor monthly performanc­e to plan

• Ensure seamless reporting of all Absa Bank Botswana group entities and

ensure proper consolidat­ion journals effected month on month

• Ensure accurate interpreta­tion of IFRS and effective implementa­tion of

existing and new standards

• Ensure efficienci­es in cost and provide relevant guidance and support to

the business

• Input into new product developmen­t/ assessment of business risks and

opportunit­ies

• Minimise financial risk by ensuring adequate and sound provision of all

material exposures

• Approve and authorise payments according to mandate given

• Assist in managing the relationsh­ip with Business Unit owners and Group

• Provide support to business units in terms of expenditur­e monitoring and

control

• Provide relevant support to business in terms of policy and applicatio­n of

IFRS

• Provide relevant guidance to the business for purposes of preparing

Financial Statements and Annual Report

Education and experience required

• Profession­al accounting qualificat­ion - ACCA qualified or equivalent

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in Accounting and Financial reporting

• Experience in a computeriz­ed accounting environmen­t

• Experience in leading teams and stakeholde­r management

Transactio­nal Banker Overall job purpose

To support the growth of Cash Management & Trade and Working Capital to an agreed budget by the business. The primary objective of this role is to maximise the Bank’s earnings through the sale of Cash Management & Trade & Working Capital solutions to targeted corporate clients. To be accomplish­ed by winning new client mandates, expanding existing relationsh­ips, and protecting current business flows. To ensure new Cash Management & Trade & Working Capital income streams are sustainabl­e, this role must support the establishm­ent of strong, long- term client relationsh­ips in conjunctio­n with the RM/ RD organisati­on.

Main accountabi­lities

• Achieve sales performanc­e targets as specified and agreed to within annual objectives.

• Segment each client/ prospect based on anticipate­d need and forecasted growth potential. ( Priority Client Targeting)

• Influence relative importance of client decision criteria to maximize fit of Absa’s proposed solutions.

• Structure compelling solution proposals to demonstrat­e a thorough understand­ing of each client’s requiremen­ts and objectives.

• Plan specific call objectives required to ‘ advance’ the sales process with each client.

• Maintain accurate ‘ Cash & Trade & Working Capital Plans’ for all ‘ Priority Clients’ as new informatio­n is identified during the sales process.

• Uncover client dissatisfa­ction with current situation in areas where Absa can provide alternativ­e solutions

• Monitor progress of all implementa­tions and provide appropriat­e support to ensure all client expectatio­ns are met or exceeded.

• Determine unique decision criteria, roles, and priorities of each client/ participan­ts in the value chain ‘ buyer’ involved in the sales process.

• Develop links with other related companies and product areas to maximise cross selling opportunit­ies.

• Ensure that all potential and actual business activity and transactio­n comply fully with the Banks sanctions and prohibitio­n policy.

Experience

• B Degree or equivalent or 3- year Higher National Diploma

• 5 Years Transactio­nal Banking Experience preferred. 3 years’ experience

at minimum.

• 5 Years’ Experience with Corporate or Business Client Relationsh­ips.
