Voguish Hair & Beauty Bar offers diversity

-

The determined Voguish Hair and beauty bar, takes pride in their makeup signature look which is ‘ glamorous eyes and glossy nude lips’.

Makeup artist and Founder of Voguish Hair & Beauty Bar, Kagiso Mokgware tells BG Style that they try to stand out while providing their beauty services. “Voguish is a full service beauty bar dedicated to consistently provide high customer satisfaction by rendering excellent service, quality products and furnishing an enjoyable atmosphere at an acceptable price/ value relationship,” says Mokgware.

She adds that what sets them apart from other makeup artists is the fact that they always look forward to being diverse with their work. “I am not afraid to change and challenge myself; my work has variation, style and beauty,” she says, adding that at the moment they are mainly specializing on bridal and editorial makeup, as it pushes her to be more creative.

They also sell 100 percent unprocessed virgin Brazilian and Indian hair which Mokgware says adds the glam look for their bridal makeup. Voguish Hair & Beauty Bar is located in Gaborone Block 9 and in Francistown town centre, Moffat street. They also offer mobile services nationwide.

Mokgware became a professional makeup artist in 2016, and officially opened her beauty bar in 2018. Her love for the beauty industry dates back when she was a little girl. “I have always loved everything to do with beauty and when I chose to turn my passion into a career, I started by offering massages, then went into selling hair and styling and later on started playing around with makeup,” she shares.

She dreams of having her own makeup brand line one day and a fully accredited Voguish cosmetology and beauty school to enrol the future crop of makeup artists who want perfection. She is of the view that it takes a certain skill to become a perfect makeup artist, hence she has interest in owning a cosmetology and beauty school in the future. Mokgware’s observation is that Botswana beauty industry is gradually developing at a slow pace, compared to the neighbouring South Africa.

“There has been some small development and growth within the local beauty space, so we still have to improve. We currently have only two institutions that offer beauty courses around. We also outsource products and equipment from other countries, and this means we still have a long way to go,” she says. Nonetheless, she believes that, with hard work as well as support and recognition from the government, the industry could change for the better.

She finds her career very interesting and says that it allows her the freedom to be as creative as she could, as an artist. “It excites me to have each client as a canvas that allows me to express myself differently as an artist,” she says, adding that, she is also exposed to travelling and seeing the world because of the nature of her job, as she travels a lot.

“I am so far receiving very positive feedback both locally and from other neighbouring countries,” she shares, noting that there is high demand of self- application and master classes, and she will thus be conducting a number of makeup classes next year. Voguish Hair & Beauty Bar endeavours to have an underwater makeup photoshoot, and Mokgware says that she looks forward to meeting her makeup icons, Sir John and Pat McGrath.
