Shakawe River Lodge in Christmas mood

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Shakawe River Lodge anticipates a better Tswana Bufffet this Christmas, as they have added more traditional scrumptious food on their menu.

The Managing Director at the lovely Shakawe River Lodge, Mark Hammtick says nothing beats their annual Christmas buffet, which is why they always make sure they improve the event all the time. He promises a much better experience compared to last year.

“We ensure that everything meets that lifestyle needed by those who want to unwind, while enjoying Tswana buffet, along other activities happening around our cool breezy place,” he tells BG Style.

Known for their décor, makeup and photography sessions, Hammick says these would still be available for the beautiful memories of the day.

No one would want to leave such a greenery island without a photograph for future memories, and so Hammick reiterates that this is why they have a professional photographer in place for this cause, and makeup artists for those ladies who always want to match the beauty of their place.

The Christmas Tswana buffet goes for P300 and includes: bogobe jwa lebelebele, bogobe jwa mabele, koko ya Setswana, seswaa sa podi, mogatla wa kgomo, morogo wa dinawa, green salad, coleslaw salad, pap, ice cream, fruit salad, vegetable gravy and lephutshe.

Hammick shares that they have also added fish to the menu, especially for their international visitors to have it the Tswana way, than the usual fried one.

He reiterates that the menu has this year changed to traditional locally sourced food because they wanted something different and to promote local food as well.

They also have one hour boat cruise activity at a fee, and he explains that for those who can’t wait to taste their Tswana buffet on Christmas Day, they can still book their special meals any day. Hammick adds that they have hosted Cultural Development preservation workshop sometime in October, and he is happy to share that the final event would also take place on Christmas Day.
