Kathiku Big 5 launches in Maun

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

The versatile business owner, Ineeleng Kavindama is slated to launch Kathiku beverages this December. Kathiku is a name derived from her Hambukushu name which translates to the magic hour just before sunset.

For a few weeks, she has been sharing and teasing Batswana about this exciting development. And this Saturday, December 18th, she is slated to finally launch it in a town that offers the ideal tranquil setting for those who wish to sip and enjoy a glass or two of Kathiku. The launch will be held at Crocodile Camp and Spa in Maun.

Speaking in an interview with this publication, Kavindama explains that Kathiku beverage is about paying homage to her fatherland in the Okavango Delta and about paying tribute to the rich tourism sector in the delta.

She also explains that Kathiku beverage is about the Big five collection which comprises of five flavors of her beverage collection which is aptly represented by the big five animals of the Okavango Delta namely;

Kathiku handcrafted pure Gin 43 percent alcohol ( Elephant), Kathiku handcrafted Vodka 43 percent alcohol ( Lion), Kathiku Elder Flower and Rose Infused handcrafted Gin 43 percent ( Leopard), Kathiku Blondie Cream Liqueur 15.5 percent alcohol ( Buffalo), and the Kathiku English Toffee Cream Liqueur 15.5 percent alcohol ( Rhino).

The reception for Kathiku is exceptionally great, and retailers are already eager to get it on their shelves. Even event organisers also want to form partnerships.

According to Kavindama, Kathiku beverage is any collectors dream. She points out that the collection is handcrafted which means it wasn’t mass produced, which also means that special attention went into the infusion of the spirits. “Attention to detail went into the selection of the ingredients and is also made from 100 percent grain neutral spirits. It is a must have in any person who collects beverages.

Kathiku big five collection is even ideal to display in your house. The collection is also ideal for visiting tourists as it’s something for them to go back with instead of just collecting Botswana’s curios ( artifacts),” she says.

She also points out that the spirits also have cork closures ( caps) like those similar for champagne and wines to give them that handcrafted finishing touch instead of the usual Aluminum closures.

On top of the Kathiku Big five collection, she also has the award winning wines and Methode Cap Classique ( champagnes) from Stellenbosch ( Capetown) distilleries, as well as canned wines in her collection of best wines.

With her extensive range, she is eyeing the target market of middle to upper market due to their International award winning wines.

Quizzed on why she took this path, she points out that she has been in the medical equipment business for more than a decade, and that it was time to diversify. Secondly, COVID- 19 also played a role in pushing her into the digital platform world.

“The world is going digital hence introduction of our online beverage store to transact online through www. kathikubeverages. com

Moreover we are also in the vintage car hire business hence we saw the need to identify an area that can complement that line of business,” she highlights.

Teasing those who are slated to attend the big launch, she shares that at the launch, the public will have a chance to view all of her product range, and most importantly buy a bottle or two directly on the spot. Kavindama highlights that Crocodile camp is the right setting for launching her products because of the activities that the lodge offers like mokoro activities which is part of the main signature for our Kathiku beverages logo.

“So in fitting in the mood of indulging in Kathiku beverages before sunset do mokoro activities at the same time,” she says.

Meanwhile, Kathiku beverages website will be live from this Friday, where they will do deliveries nationally through courier companies like Botswana Post, Sprint couriers and DHL.
