‘ I am tired’ Lorraine Ditsebe sings against GBV

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Songwriter and singer, Lorraine Ditsebe’s newly released song ‘ I’m so tired’ aims at addressing domestic violence, and creates safer homes.

The song is actually written in three languages: English, Setswana and Zulu. Being a creative, she saw it fit to address this sensitive topic, through music in multiple languages. “’ I am so tired’ actually narrates that: I am so tired of the emotional blackmail, the everyday hurt as well as the actual physical abuse suffered at the hands of people who say they love us,” she says, questioning if love really has to hurt that much.

Ditsebe tells Lifestyle that the song was actually her producer’s idea to address GBV and domestic violence. She reiterates that the song’s main message is actually for people to leave a violent setup if they find themselves in it. “People should be aware that, physical and emotional abusers only say they are sorry when it’s one of their good days, but it doesn’t mean they really are; therefore the song tries to teach people that they are responsible for how they should be treated,” she says, emphasizing that people shouldn’t tolerate domestic violence.

‘ I’m tired’ is an Amapiano genre, and it was produced by DJ Harrycane at MN Entertainment studio. Ditsebe is satisfied about the feedback that she receives about the song so far, and says it is encouraging. “I am receiving very good feedback about the song so far and I am glad to share that it has already been played on Kopanong

Fm’s Top One Urban Hits in Zeerust,” she says. It is also currently playing on various local radio stations and its link is available on different social media platforms as well. Ditsebe adds that she did this unique song on her birthday month, just to give her listeners something different, and be in line with the theme of the month.
