Home Coming Concert says thank you
This Saturday, B6 in Mochudi will be lit when the Home Coming Concert ( HCC) Appreciation party takes place. The Appreciation Party is an annual event, and it follows the HCC, which is held in December. It is sort of thanksgiving to those who have been loyal to the event. According to the organisers, it will feature mostly local acts, with only three artists coming from South Africa. To give revellers variety with regards to how they want to enjoy the party, organisers are promising two dance floors.
The line- up includes Sdala B and Paige, DJ Merlon, Vee Mampeezy, DJ Kuchi, Ricky Lamar, Chef Gustos, Casper the DJ, T- Man, Khebah, DJ Lexx, Allan Govie, Le Spooner DJ, DJ Nfazo, Hapex the Guru, DJ Bunny, DA O, BigSouls, DJ Unanimous, Mr Yummy as well as DJ Thoko. MC for the day is none other than Theo, of Hey Nyena fame.
In the meantime, Monate Fela Entertainment is already planning the 14th edition of one of the oldest entertainment concepts, the Home Coming Concert ( HCC) for this year. Like most events, in particular events of this magnitude in Botswana, it has not been smooth sailing for HCC. Home Coming Concert is held annually on December 24th in Mahalapye. The 2019 edition was cancelled, and this did not go down well with revellers. After a two- year hiatus, the festival returned to Mahalapye last year, and was a
roaring success, according to some. Only one artist out of the whole line- up could not perform, and this was Franco. But plans are in place to have him perform, hopefully this year.
Speaking during a recent media briefing held at United Lounge in Block 6, Event Coordinator, Easy B shared that this year and going forward, he was committed to doing things differently. This would include getting more manpower and securing financial stability for the event, as well as getting a team that can efficiently run the event which will allow him to do other things.
“I will like to see a day where the event is running, and I am just relaxing at home without worrying about anything,” he said.
In his experience of running the event, he said that he has realised that he could not handle everything on his own, and that he needed a strong team that can help him carry the burden of putting together the event. “Last year, our partnership with DC Tours really did wonders for us,” he said adding that they were hopeful that DC Tours will join them again this year.
“It was magic to work with them,” he shared, noting that with a partnership like that, they could not have any hiccups.
He also noted that this year, they were working on showcasing three or four events as a build up to the big show in December. Details about this event will be revealed at a later stage. “We have an idea of what we want to do, and will reveal these plans before June,” said Easy B. *
