Aspiring applicants for the Ngwato Land Board’s 4440 multi- family, residential, commercial and recreation plots which rose to over P1million three years ago, will have to wait much longer before getting the land.

The aspirants tendered their applications in response to an advertisement by the land board in one of the country’s fastest growing village, Palapye, raising over P1.2 million for the Authority which would later find fault in its tendering process and was forced to cancel the tendering process and are still to reimburse those who paid. Mabuse Pule, Acting Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services told Parliament that the Tender No. NLB 01/ 10/ 2019 for 329 non- residential plots for Ngwato Land Board of which 178 plots were for Palapye Sub- Land Board, was published.

He said the Palapye plots consisted of 63 industrial plots, 48 civic and community plots, 42 multi- family residential plots, 19 commercial plots, five tourism and one recreational.

“The tender was cancelled on the 17th May 2021 after identification of mistakes in the tender document during the evaluation process”. He revealed that the total number of applications received for Palapye Sub- Land Board was 4440. “The total amount raised from Palapye applications was P1, 243, 050. The tender evaluation was cancelled due to mistakes identified in the tender document during the evaluation process”. Pule said the plan is that the plots will be re- advertised in March 2022 since this tender was cancelled, and then other processes will follow.
