Notwane hanging over the edge
The Gaborone based club, Notwane FC are on a free fall. The team is currently fluffing every chance they have to rescue themselves from the drop. Sechaba lost their crucial match against another relegation entangled side, Mogoditshane Fighters this past Tuesday.
All eyes have been looking in the direction of the relegation candidates this season. Notwane has proven dormant and not looking fit to survive. Sechaba has been entangled in the relegation battle for a prolonged period, the team has recorded poor performance all season long and that has left them in the battle to avoid the drop alongside Mahalapye Railways and Mogoditshane Fighters, Pri
sions XI and Gilport Lions.
In their response to the decline in performance, Sechaba has added new players to their fold to help them avoid relegation, Bophelo Kealeboga joined the team from Sua Flamingoes in the January transfer window, the shot stopper has a great deal of experience under his belt but so far his heroics hasn’t come out to play. Another addition is the striker, Joseph Pyele, who was expected to bolster their attacks but has been inconsistent. The Zambian striker, who penned a six months deal with Notwane FC on loan move from Jwaneng Galaxy, is struggling to bring out his best performance in front of goal posts. The tumultuous season which has included the firing of coach Oupa Kowa is one of the worst the team
has endured since returning to top flight football some few years ago. Coach Shishi Mogopodi brought in a few experienced players but nothing seems to work out for him. Kaelo Kgaswane, the defender was brought in from Security Systems for six months, and he is yet to impress the coaching staff. Sechaba hangs from close to the basement of the league with just 12 points from the 20 fixtures they have played.
They lost a crucial game against Fighters, three points would have been a step towards escaping the drop. The experience of Galagwe Moyama is expected to payoff for the ailing giants of Gaborone, in the remaining 10 games while Brian Botsang and Kaelo Kgaswane are expected to solidify the defence and better their goal difference.
