Those who live by the sword ... die by the sword

- Thabo Masokola

The bodies laid there, scattered, and lifeless. Blood oozing in every bullet- pierced hole and flowing any direction it so chose. And so, the bodies riddled with bullets, were soaked in blood, red- thick blood. The apparels they once called clothes, were tattered and torn. The bullets had done their job. The so called ‘ safehouse,’ turned out to be a haunted place. And as we now know; perfect death hole. It was as if, Los Zetas, Mexico’s savage cartel, known for massacres, mutilations and posting killings on the internet had been there. For people like them, los gatilleros, ( foot soldiers) of the criminal underworld, death comes early and without warning. It always lurks there in the shadows; on any street corner, during any brawl, settling of scores or from a stray bullet. And the one thing they know is that, the most likely way out of a criminal group is either as a prisoner or as a corpse. They chose the latter.

Engaging commando operators in close quarter battle ( CQB), was a definite appointment with the Creator. An obvious suicide endeavour. This they must have distinctly understood, or nothing pleasant was ever going to come out. And indeed, nothing pleasant came out. Had they sufficiently acquainted themselves with this hindsight, they should, or at the least, could have surrendered without firing even a single shot. Had they done this, we probably could, or at the most, should be telling a different story. But, little did they know that, the sound of a gun to a commando, is like the smell of ecstasy to a druggie, it kicks in the adrenaline, and instantly turns them to living killing machines. And once they are charged, like a pitbull, they never let go. Like a samurai sword, they are sharpened to the highest lethality. With the ferocity of a buffalo, and the courage of a lion, they tame even the wildest tiger. Commando is not just a special force; it is the distinct few, of the special forces.

Even for the battle- craze, CQB is one of the most absolutely horrifying engagement, any operator may ever do. And indeed, the outcome, indicates the operators’ strict adherence to the three principles of CQB, being; element of surprise, speed and lethality ( multiplied violence). From the outcome, it is clear that the operators achieved surprise, and the speed ensured that the criminals never recovered from the surprise. From there, the operators seized the moment to mount immense physical and psychological pressure on the criminals. They complimented this, by violence of action, to further destabilize the criminals’ posture, hence robbing them of the chance to ever effectively overcome the juggernaut of surprise and speed. The result, ten dead bodies.

Word is that, their kingpin is vowing revenge. He is said to be assembling a team of Inkabi ( Zulu assassins). From commando perspective, the sooner they come, the better. Those of you who have been throwing all sorts of obscenities to the law enforcement agencies for a job well done, be comforted, and know that, it is just the nature of the beast. Sometimes to preserve life, we have to take life. Sometimes to preserve peace, we have to rely on violence. I am of the view that we need to hear often more of this good news. As a nation, we should allow not ourselves to be blackmailed into supporting self- serving political agendas that seek to render the country ungovernable under the pretext of ‘ human rights.’ We cannot allow violent criminals to make the country ungovernable. The fact that these criminals are often armed with high caliber weapons, puts everybody in grave danger, including their supporters. Therefore, the law enforcement agencies must expropriate the strategic environment, by all means necessary. There is absolutely no any other option. The red line has been crossed. There is no room for negotiations. And the terrain, determines the tactics.
