Ithuba Botswana commits to help Batswana through lottery
Ithuba Botswana is looking forward to commence negotiations with Gambling Authority over the operations of the country’s national lottery, its Chairman, Todd Mangadi has disclosed. After months deliberating over an appeal from the previous preferred bidder, Grow Mine for the operation of the national lottery, Minister of Trade, Investment and Industry, Mmusi Kgafela declared his office is not the right one to hear such an appeal, effectively giving leeway for Gambling Authority to proceed to negotiate with Ithuba Botswana. The latter has been chosen by Gambling Authority to start negotiation over the operation of the national lottery. “Ithuba Botswana commits to bring Batswana life changing jackpots, job creation, maximum contributions to good causes and creating local citizen empowerment opportunities through unimaginable economic activity in Botswana by way of the various ecosystems that stand to benefit such as local suppliers/ contractors ( SMEs), some of the impact and growth to industries such as printing of consumables, marketing and communications, telecommunications and audit services to name but a few,” said Mangadi. Ithuba Botswana, a subsidiary of a well- known Pan African group, Ithuba Holdings, which among others operates the multi- million South African national lottery. In a previous press release, Mangadi said they have the right competence to run the national lottery.
“With a proven track record, sound understanding and knowledge, and experience in the lottery industry, Ithuba Botswana has the capital in terms of the guarantees required by the Gambling Authority, as well as the expertise and resources to roll out the National Lottery with immediacy, should we be awarded the opportunity. All things being equal, we can be in a position to start running the National Lottery in matter of months,” said the Chairman at the time.
