Masitaoka on a free fall

- BG Correspondent

Molepolole based side Masitaoka started the season like a house on fire but over time got burnt out; with each performance, the team looks like a shadow of its former self.

For a team that dominated Township Rollers in the FA Cup semifinals late last year and went on to play Gaborone United in the final, losing it by 3 goal, things have not been the same for Majatlhaga. Masitaoka have seen things go south, leading to the removal of coach Nelson Olebile and things changed for the worse when they lost their game against relegation threatened Prisons

XI on Tuesday. A team once promising to fight for the top 8 spot is now dropping below expectations and are about to be entangled in the relegation battle. They are sitting on position 11 with just 25 points from 21 games.

Majathaga are 13 points away from the the bottom placed side BR Higlanders and if the team does not take immediate action they will find themselves in the same mess as some of the teams battling relegation.

However, the team has been linked with Michael Mogaladi who is said to be the next coach in their efforts to save their current situation. The team mouthpiece, Godfrey Rathaga denied the allegations when quizzed about Mogaladi as the new coach. “It is not true, we will communicate latest developments as they unfold,” he said in an interview. In addition, he admitted that the situation is not good for the club. “We are working to bring back our mojo, we will make an announcement soon. “Losing against First Division side, Mochudi Center Chiefs in the Orange FA Cup last weekend came as a wake up call for the team but their recent loss to Prisons XI in the league called for immediate action by the club hierarchy. In the next few days, the team is expected to make several changes in technical positions to help rescue their fortunes.
