Sebina on pole position

... as former Tafic chairman is tipped for BFA’s 2nd VP post

- City Keagakwa BG correspondent

Botswana Football Association’s ( BFA) National Executive Committee ( NEC) members are set to approve President, Maclean Letshwiti’s appointment of a new 2nd Vice President.

Previous report suggested that Letshwiti could possibly look beyond NEC members to find Masego Nchingane’s position following the departure of Marshlow Motlogelwa, and allegedly went further by cajoling former President and bitter rival Tebogo Sebego, who allegedly turned down the offer.

The BFA constitution according to close observers, also restricted him and was only left to choose between current NEC members. Latest information reaching this publication is that the BFA president is seriously contemplating the prospect to appoint Carlos Sebina to the vacant post. Sebina was recently appointed as the head of the Marketing and Finance Committee, taking over from Female Additional member, Lobito Ncube. Inside informants have also stated that Sebina has already been given a mandate to assume the role of overseeing the association’s accounts office which was under the close watch of Motlogelwa. The former Tafic chairman has been at war with the powers that be at the association and was at one point suspended from the NEC; however, the animosity between him and the BFA bosses have settled in recent times. The BFA president now regards Sebina as one of his trusted men and has reportedly notified other NEC members of his intensions to appoint him as the association’s 2nd Vice President. The next NEC meeting is expected towards the end of this month but a specific date has not been made yet. During the next seating, appointment of the new 2nd Vice President will be made and currently, only four ( 4) members are eligible for the post, ( Lobeto Ncube, Carlos Sebina, Tico Kamati and Alec Fella Monyake). All the four candidates are yet to show their cards on whether they are keen on the vacant post, according to close sources; It is believed that they will accept any name that the president will bring forth to assume the role of 2nd Vice President.
