BFA condemns Nare’s outburst
This week social media has been set ablaze by Morupule Wanderers Coach, Daniel Nare, following his 2- 3 loss at the hands of Notwane. Nare could not contain his emotions and went on to point a finger and criticize the officiating of referee, Tirelo Mositwane on national television this past Sunday.
The coach painted a picture of significant unrest with the way his team’s games have been administered while also reinforcing the notion that many of the league games he played were given to the same referee over and over again.
Speaking in an interview this week, Botswana Football Association ( BFA) mouthpiece, Tumo Mpatane said there are ways in which the coach could have addressed the issue and that he was unprofessional and they strongly condemn it.
“There are ways in which he could have addressed the issue, we must protect the game and we do not condone the manner in which he addressed his grievances.”
Mpatane further added that they are hopeful that the matter will be looked into and at the end of it all a remedy to the situation will be put into place.
Reached for comment, Botswana Football League ( BFL) Chief Executive Officer ( CEO), Solomon Ramochothwane said that the issue is internal and they cannot discuss it with the media at the moment.
Quizzed if they have a coaches conduct to guard against what they can and cannot say against match officials, Ramochothwane said they only have play rules and regulations which cover some of the events that transpired over the weekend.
Other countries across the world have a code of ethics that prohibit coaches from speaking out against match officials; it is believed that it sends the wrong message to athletes and team followers who may take the lead from the coach.
