Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known by her stage name, Makhadzi has been given the highest order as honorary Motlokwa in the border town of Tlokweng. A very emotional Ralivhona was blown away by this gesture, breaking down in tears. The South African born artist, who has an undying appreciation for Batswana support was in the country earlier this Wednesday, ahead of her show tomorrow, Saturday. Dubbed One Woman Show with Makhadzi, the event will be held at Royal Aria Stadium, and will feature a number of top local acts as well as fellow artists from South Africa including her boyfriend, Master KG, and Cassper Nyovest.

Leading a delegation of Batlokwa women was none other than Mme Thandiwe Gaborone who dressed Makhhadzi in a blue mogagolwane, a doek and leteisi. The gesture was something that the humble Makhadzi had not expected to get. She would later disclose that she had assumed that this would just be a clean- up campaign, and had not anticipated something of this nature.

Speaking at the event, she explains that ever since she started travelling all over for her shows, Batswana have welcomed her with open arms, more than any other country including her birth country. “I decided to come to Botswana as I wanted to empower young children and show them that it is possible to make your dreams come true,” she said. She further said that as previously stated, she was donating 10 percent of her profits to charity, and that the donation will go to vulnerable families. “I am still saying that, after my event, I am going to take 10 percent of my profit and make sure that I donate it to Batswana,” she said adding that she would also see how she can assist a disabled young girl who was mentioned during the event. “I am willing to assist, and after the event, they will tell me what type of assistance they are looking for, so that I can help before I go back home after the show,” said Makhadzi.

The event organiser, Gilbert Seagile of Gilbert Promotions, emphasized that gone are the days when the entertainment industry was shunned. He also said that numbers such as the fact that the Arts and Culture industry contributes 5.48 percent to the ( GDP) is testament that the industry has a ripple effect on the economy of the country. Giving examples of big festivals in South Africa such as the Macufe Festival and the MTN Bushfire in Eswatini, he said events generate millions for the economy.

In other news, he also noted that they were planning to provide to Batlokwa by using a cleaning team, and beefing up security with Batlokwa as a way of providing employment to Batlokwa and ensuring that they revived the economy during the event. For his part, the Batlokwa Deputy Chief, Kgosi Michael Gaborone highlighted that it was a blessing for an artist of this magnitude to set foot at the Tlokweng Kgotla, and go further by holding the event in the Batlokwa capital. He further called on Batlokwa and all of those who will grace the Saturday event to have fun in a responsible manner.

The 25- year old Makhadzi was born in Ha Mashamba ( Limpopo province). In December of 2021, she was one of the most booked South African artists. For her One Woman Show, she will feature an array of artists such as Scar, Slizer, Vee, Khoisan, Dalom Kids to mention a few. Her Saturday event will follow the release of her EP on Friday titled Pain ya Jealous. In May, she is slated to tour Europe, and will perform in Scotland and the UK.
