Bridal makeup is a different game

Prettify Makeover explains the difference

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Bridal makeup and ordinary makeup are totally different, and to achieve a sterling bridal look, the makeup artist has to be confident about their ordinary work first. Makeup and certified permanent makeup artist at Prettify Makeover, Tsitsi Mukozho tells BG Style that, bridal makeup is unique in the sense that it has to last all day long, and actually has to be well planned for. “The basic difference between ordinary makeup and bridal makeup is that, bridal makeup is exclusive such that it is only meant to wear on that big day, unlike ordinary makeup that can be applied every day,” she says. The Maun based makeup artist explains that Bridal makeup will take longer to apply, even if the look can be done quickly. “Generally, the makeup artist spends more time on the bride, to give those proper highlights and ensure that the look compliments the dress, as well as the bride’s facial appearance, especially the hairstyle. You don’t want to rush this process, when it comes to bridal makeup because it is a once- off special look,” explains Mukozho. She adds that in as much as bridal makeup has to be thoughtfully planned for, makeup products have to be considered too, to achieve that genuine and amazing look. “The makeup artist has to apply a combination of long wear products such as primers, powders, setting sprays and waterproof mascara, and use techniques like ‘ baking,’ and longwear lipsticks, in order to get that stunning and radiant look,” she says emphasizing that she prefers a clean and natural look for her brides as it blends well with the white wedding gown. However, she often looks at the theme of the bride’s outfit and takes it from there. As a certified makeup artist, she prefers both the bride and the bride’s maids team to have one makeup artist do their face beat in order to keep that same stylish and related look. Mukozho also does semi- permanent makeup including; microblading, Microshading and ombré brows as well as eyelash extensions and wig installation which she says she sometimes does on her beautiful brides. She further notes that regular makeup can be worn every day, while at work, at a party, or everywhere else, except on one’s wedding day. She describes her signature makeup look as ‘ natural glam’ and says bridal makeup even allows her to be more creative and show off this natural glam look style on her brides.

“I love to enhance and bring out the best parts of someone’s face. I do not like to overdo it and change features,” she adds.

Day make up tends to be lighter colors with neutral shades like nudes, preferably with clear gloss on the lips, while night makeup tends to be darker because going out at night usually means being in dark atmosphere hence make up needs to be applied more heavily so that it pops out, she shares. She explains that she does bridal makeup occasionally, which is why she finds it exciting to do as it enhances her talents. She wishes to become a makeup trainer with a team of makeup artists

and hairstylists to show the world how it is done, emphasizing that eyebrows need to be outstanding for makeup to look glamorous.

“I am devoted to delivering the very best of my skills and ensure that my clients

are recognized through clean and beautiful makeover as well as quality, efficacy and reliability,” she says adding that she is always excited to see her brides beaming with confidence, especially on their photoshoot sessions.
