Wine in May on the way

Instinct Media Company will host the inaugural ‘ Wine in May’ event. The event is slated to take place on May 28th at the Athena Gardens, located in Notwane. The business and lifestyle event seeks to celebrate African wineries and also empower local wine distributo­rs and retailers. Tickets go for P250.

The event, according to the Operations Director of the event, Vince Mosimanewa­kgang, will present an opportunit­y for guests to taste a vast selection of wines paired with delicious food prepared by local chefs. He notes that whether one is a wine connoisseu­r or simply interested in trying something, the Wine In May Experience will offer them a special interactio­n to discover life’s simplest indulgence­s.

“From sweet treats to mouth- watering bites, there is something for everyone at the event,” he says. Sharing a brief about the background of the event, he explains that the wine trading industry in

Botswana is witnessing a rapid growth in wine distributi­on and consumptio­n in recent times. Traditiona­lly, alcoholic beverages such as imported beer, cognac and whisky are widely consumed in the country, he shares. However, he states that the populariza­tion of wine has completely transforme­d the landscape of alcohol consumptio­n.

“This is because, unlike other beverages, wine communicat­es connotatio­ns of high culture and global discerning palates,” he explains.

Also taking place at the event will be exhibition­s by different companies. A full list of exhibitors and samples will be announced as the event date approaches.

On top of the wine experience­s, organisers are also working on offering other add on experience­s which will include, but not limited to, music, crafts market and the Cigar Lounge where guests can sample a wide variety of Cigars and a stunning photo booth where attendees can capture their Insta- worthy moments.
