PAINTING, WINING AND LEARNING

... At the Bosa- di Sip & Paint Event

- PHEMELO RAMASU BG REPORTER

ArtbeetbyRJP, in collaboration with Motekevents & Deco held a very stimulating, and successful edition of the Bosa- di Sip and Paint event this past Saturday.

The event was held in a very serene and beautiful home in Broadhurst that was turned into a venue for the day. For those who were experiencing the Bosa- di Sip and Paint event for the first time, it was everything for those still finding their way around the canvas, paint brush and just the overall environment needed. The mood was just right. The scene and the décor were stunning and they gave one the chance to be mindful of their surroundings and listen to the tune and rhythm of their bodies without worrying about anything.

And most importantly, the eclectic mix of the guests were ready to have fun, sip red or white wine, or non- alcoholic beverages for the teetotalers, and all be mindfully being in the moment. Leading the guests was none other than Abstract artist, Refilwe Phaladi, who graciously took the guests through each and every step of their journey.

The intimate set- up curated by Tsholofelo Motekwane ( Founder and Creative Director of Motekevents & deco) and the right number of guests meant that she could give all the attention to everyone. This happened to be the second edition of the Bosa- di Sip and Paint event for the year, with the first one having recently been held in Jwaneng in collaboration with Party Hub BW. The painting of the day was a galaxy, and the participants showed enthusiasm in using their fingers to splash and create abstract stars. They got to sign off their paintings and went home with their artwork. As part of their ticket, they were served a glass of wine and light snacks by catering company, Jessie Bakes. Setting the mood for the event, it began with a session of business empowerment led by Guest Speaker, Ratidzo Murwisi, who is the Founder of the Popsicle Company.

She gave an engaging presentation about starting and growing a business, how to seek investment, giving insight on how she was able to receive international funding for the expansion of her business. This gave the attendees the opportunity to get first- hand information on the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship from experienced personnel and a woman in light of embracing women.

According to Founder and Creative Director of ArtbeetbyRJP, Refilwe Phaladi, the event was created as a way for people to relax and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of art.

“Art is a great way to release emotional tension and express oneself, as it allows one to be at ease focusing their attention on the strokes of the brush which on its own is a very calming movement,” she explained.

She explained that it was important to create the right environment as spaces are also important in influencing the mood in an area. “That is why our Sip and Paints are not just about the art we create through painting but also about the art of creating a therapeutic atmosphere through aesthetics, a role beautifully played by Motekevents & deco,” she said. Meanwhile, Phaladi also shared that the team was unable to raise sufficient funds for their charity target, and that Artbeet continues to make it a mission to contribute to raising awareness on Gender Based Violence and contribute to positive change through art efforts. “We are planning to work with the Blow the Whistle Against Rape team in their efforts to advocate against GBV, contributing our creative skills in provoking fruitful conversations to curb the growing number of GBV cases in our country until sound solutions are established,” she explained. She also highlighted that the team hopes to take the event to Maun next as well as create a similar event suitable for younger people based on the feedback that most guests had inquired on whether there was a painting sessions for children.

“For now, we have only been hosting children’s art themed parties per request, as well as lessons but we do see the gap in creating kids events from our client feedback and will definitely consider that as we love working with children, they are very open minded to art,” said Phaladi.

Some of those who attended the events, were very keen to return for another session. They also expressed that they hope to see the event become frequent as it helps one to release stress.
