Vivo Energy Botswana promised customers reasonable prices through its 24 hour convenient stores as it has partnered with Choppies Enterprises Limited.

Through the partnership, Shell convenient stores have been rebranded to ‘ On the Go By Choppies’ and intend to open 10 more stores this year, employing over 200 workers. The convenient store offers fast moving consumer goods products as well as Choppies own private label.

Officially opening the first On the Go by Choppies store at BBS mall on Friday, Vivo Energy Botswana Managing Director, Pawan Kiran Juwaheer said leveraging on Choppies strong economies of scale, the stores will offer consumers an improved mix of product at reasonable prices and improve customer experience. “This reinvention will cement Vivo Energy Botswana’s non- fuel offering and introduce Choppies to the convenience and on the go culture. With both of our extensive network coverage, this partnership will enhance the role of retail experience and redefine the fuel forecourt retail market”.

He said the new model of convenience stores sits perfectly with Vivo Energy’s objective of satisfying customers’ every need. “Our aim is to meet and exceed our customer expectation, hence the convenience of choice offering. This is in line with our expansion strategy to make it convenient for our customers to access quality products and services across the country.”

Vivo Energy has 80 outlets across the country while Choppies has 93 shops across the country.

Minister of Entrepreneurship, Karabo Gare said job creation is one of the key priorities for the economy and government relies on the business community to create jobs whilst it creates a conducive environment to facilitate them to do so. “Government is committed to economic reforms that will improve the doing business environment.”

Gare highlighted that as a way of improving the business environment, Government has reviewed a number of policies and laws as well as the administrative process, amongst them the Trade Act, 2019 with an intention to reduce the number of days of starting a business.

He urged Choppies to empower local farmers and register them on their supplier data base for farmers to start supplying Choppies with fresh produce and meat.

Choppies regional Manager, Lesego Setumbeko said joining forces with a giant like Vivo Energy is a clear indication of Choppies’ efforts to bring forth innovative and convenient services to Batswana. “Choppies on the Go comes at a time when customers desperately require quick, high quality and affordable goods on a daily basis, hence we named it ‘ On the Go’”.
