For some of the local players, the tournament is very important considering its magnitude hence some may want to use the tournament to step up in the rankings.
“This is a prestigious event, which presents a golden opportunity to compete on the world stage. Playing on the world stage builds confidence, and growth for all players as it’s every chess player’s dream to play at that stage.
This is also a sign of pride for flying the national flag, so I believe everyone is determined to get the results,” he said.
The team has a mixture of experience and youth, the youthful team is even competitive and should be a strong entity going into the future.
“As an evolving Federation, we aim to attain a high performing team.
As such it is critical to have young players in the team who will gain the necessary experience at a young age
Thus, our national team selection provided an opportunity for our young players to earn their place in the team.”
The Men’s team includes International Master ( IM), Providence Oatlhotse, Gomolemo Rongwane, Oratile Kgotlane, Bojosi Sabure and Keletshabile Monnatsheko.
Meanwhile, the Ladies team comprises of
Woman Fide Master ( WFM), Besa Masaiti, Woman Fide Master ( WFM), Naledi Marape, Woman Candidate Master ( WCM), Natalie Katlo Banda, Ruth Otisitswe
and Woman Candidate Master ( WCM), Arona Moshoboro.
The Women’s Team Captain is Masego Motlotle and Men’s Team Captain is Thompson Modisane.
The team will be under the guidance of Mooketsi Segaise and Mokwal e d i Tingwane.
