Galaxy on shopping spree
The idea is to strengthen the current squad ahead of the new season, blending experience with a touch of youthfulness.
Jwaneng Galaxy have started to flex their financial muscles in the transfer market as the team has already acquired big name signings ahead of the new season.
Galaxy has seen many big trophies elude them in the past season and that has worried the club’s management and supporters at large. Of recent, the club has been recruiting some of the most refined players in the country as they seek to mount a challenge in Orange FA Cup and Mascom Top 8 as well as in the league.
The Jwaneng based outfit last managed a cup victory in 2018/ 2019 season when they won the Mascom Top 8, with a 2- 0 victory over bitter rivals, Gaborone United. With almost 4 years without decorating their trophy cabinet with silverware, mouthpiece, Tankiso Morake admits they ought to be competitive.
“The idea is to strengthen the current squad ahead of the new season, blending experience with a touch of youthfulness.” Moreover, the team has been on a shopping spree as their task was to bring in both young and
experienced players to have a balanced team that can compete and challenge for a title. “We want to compete and the target is to win the league and get back to competing in CAF competitions. As Jwaneng Galaxy, we have been
consistent in the past years and we will want to go back to winning cups again,” he stressed.
Nonetheless, having a new set of players in the team and a committed coach, Morena Ramoreboli with a new
contract, this might come as a blessing for the team. The effort of the players will increase, since newcomers will want to impress the new coach and earn a starting berth, while those who are already there will want to cement their place. In their fold, the team has signed the likes of Kabelo Babusi From Extension Gunners on a 3 years contract, Karabo Gaolebale From Security Systems on a 2 year contract, and Allen Ndodole from Orapa United on a 1 year 6 months contract. Kutlwelo Mpolokang, who will reunite with the team after a short spell with Township Rollers; he signed a 2 year deal.
