Serving Desserts

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

One Kgabung, well known as Desserts by One is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to making delicious sweet treats or even imitating big brands. Her work speaks volumes for her especially on social media. Her yummy tasty treats are the results of her own mother’s works, she says.

“My mother used to make old school truffles, just basic jelly and custard desserts and so I learnt a few things from her and took it from there,” she says. She tells BG Style that, in all this, she looked out to be more creative as she started making cookies and biscuits.

“I wanted to be known for more delight and attractive as well as appetizing sweets and I went an extra mile to achieve this, by just learning on my own,” says Kgabung.

She shares that her first attempt was in December 2021 and since then, she tried many new things. Her proudest creativity in sweet treats is when she managed to make home made products like smarties candy, lunch bar chocolate, romany creams and toppers biscuits.

They came out so good and tasted amazing as well. All these exposed her to those with a sweet tooth, but she says lack of funds limits her from making more.

She is currently selling frozen desserts, and they are in popular demand too. “I play around with ice creams and make them more mouth- watering with my creativity skills and people cannot resist them because the taste speaks for itself,” she says. She has just relocated from Gaborone to Molepolole and laments of the not so good response as compared to Gaborone, because of the target market. Her prices range from P35. 00 to P100. 00.

“My number one goal is to Package my stuff and open a Coffee shop where I will be serving my sweet treats and refreshments,” she says, highlighting that it is unfortunate that she is * still struggling with finances currently.
