Reliance Infosystem­s imparts soft skills

Botswana subsidiary of Reliance Infosystem­s has initiated a three months project to equip the country’s human resource with soft skills, as the nation seeks to prop up knowledge- based economy.

Speaking at the company’s symposium dubbed ‘ Digital Leadership in a New Reality’, Reliance Infosystem­s Key Accounts Manager, Emmanuel Sekoko said the project is targeted at empowering ICT employees for free.

The project, running under the name MODIVA, offers a variety of courses to bridge the gap of technical skills set.

“We need to push each other to learn new skills, as we support knowledge based economy, we are here to up skill ICT staff and empower ICT managers,” said Sekoko. He is optimistic that with a presence in 44 countries and over 150 profession­als and 3200 customers, the company wants to be an integral part of Botswana’s digital economy journey.

Apart from the re- tooling of the ICT profession­als, Sekoko said Reliance Infosystem­s has another platform named Careerdemy which is a community project for students and young profession­als in the ICT industry to get career guidance.

Reliance Infosystem’s initiative­s comes as the country seeks to establish itself as a knowledge- based economy, which can be achieved through innovation, research and developmen­t capability, knowledge channels and developmen­t activities, as highlighte­d in the National Transforma­tion Strategy for Vision 2036.

With backing from Microsoft and Sophos as partners, Reliance Infosystem envisages to evangelize digital transforma­tion across the country.

“We look forward to a successful working relationsh­ip, we believe that Botswana can transform into a digital savvy economy,” said Country Manager of Reliance Infosystem, Thuto Molapo.

“We believe the cloud is the future of technology,” said Molapo.

Molapo said the company’s key objective is business transforma­tion, sharing new ideas to benchmark and implement and open minds to how digital technologi­es can create resilient business models in the postCOVID- 19 era.
