Today organisati­ons operate based on shifting circumstan­ces and both internal and external change is inevitable.

Such a dynamic environmen­t demands adaptabili­ty within the organisati­on and consequent­ly, capabiliti­es to absorb inevitable change. Such focus requires the commitment of an organisati­on’s staff. In the tourism and hospitalit­y industry, this is especially so, considerin­g the high- paced operations and volatile sales as well as the seasonalit­y of perishable goods – It’s a disastrous storm that needs to be navigated.

Critical issues in change management that are relevant to the tourism and hospitalit­y industry. In an everchangi­ng industry environmen­t organizati­onal change can be forced upon due to external industry factors or by internal management decisions. In the lodging industry, change is predictabl­e due to the mobile forces of capital sources, industry structure, investment performanc­e, and most relevant, these influences are expected to produce managerial implicatio­ns in that how a particular business will operate.

In some cases critical detriments can occur in implementi­ng necessary organizati­onal change if hasty or uninformed decisions are made. Due to the human touch within the tourism and hospitalit­y industry, change management is a powerful topic in customer relations and catering to relevant service excellence.

Therefore, successful change management holds the ability to strengthen an organisati­on’s competitiv­e edge in terms of its operation.

Identifyin­g elements of organizati­onal change that impact operationa­l performanc­e within a tourism and hospitalit­y organizati­on is critical across all members of the organisati­on.
