FOOTBALL

First Division South rookies, VTM FC have once again made their presence felt in the country football circles by digging in the Orlando Pirates’ old treasure chest and signing past players of one of South Africa’s football giants.

Barely a few days after signing of former Orlando Pirates, Supersport United and Wits University mercurial attacker, Sfiso Myeni, sources within the corridors have told BG Sport of possibilities to sign another former Orlando Pirates and Platinum Stars defender, Tshepo Gumede, who is currently training with the team. The technical team at the club are reportedly keen on signing the 31 year old and negotiations over the monthly payments are ongoing.

Another name being mentioned is that of former Orlando Pirates hard- tackling defender Rooi Mahamutsa, the 40 year old who is reportedly a close friend to Myeni and should VTM show interests, reports are that he is open to a move.

The club chairman, Vincent Mafuta recently outlined their targets for the upcoming season, adding that their main objective is to maintain First Division status and learn the terrains of First Division football.

After announcing the signing of the 34 year old South African international, Mafuta maintained a strong stance that their objectives remain unchanged. “We vowed to bring three ( 3) experienced players, so Myeni is one of those, he is experienced and the boys will benefit from engaging with him. But our objectives does not change, we still aim for survival.
