CA Sales on African push
CA Sales Holdings Limited will continue to expand services across the African region despite the increased geopolitical risks which have adversely impacted global economic conditions.
Commenting on the group’s half year results, CA sales Group CEO, Duncan Lewis said CA& S will continue its expansion of services for new and existing clients and will continue to offer bespoke solutions to brand owners across the region. “A focus will be on channel broadening across existing businesses within existing geographies. Where feasible, the group will also grow its client and customer networks and make value- adding acquisitions.”
During the half year ended June 2022, the group profit after tax increased to over R146 million while operating profit increased by 47 percent to R215 million.
Lewis said the trading environment improved during the half of 2022 compared to the first half of the prior year, which was negatively impacted by trading restrictions. “This improvement as well as the onboarding of new clients contributed to the growth during this period.”
The group revenue for the period increased by 20 percent to R4 283 million, from R3 579 million in the period. Earnings per share ( EPS) increased by 56 percent to 30.3 cents per share, from 19.4 cents per share in the prior corresponding period.
However, the group anticipates global inflation and the challenging economic environment to continue in the near future. Lewis highlighted that the group is well positioned with its strong balance sheet and a diverse geographical presence, as well as a diversified portfolio which should continue to enable it to deliver sustainable results for the remainder of the financial year. CA Sales has operations in eight Southern African countries including Botswana, Swaziland, Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique.
In its financial year ended December 2021, the group recorded 11.4 percent growth from Botswana in the wholesale and retail trade industry, which stood as Botswana’s most significant commercial sector. Botswana continues to lead the group’s revenue growth as it recorded about R2,3 billion during the half year period ended June 2022, compared to over R1,9 billion recorded in the same period last year.
