FNBB appoints top executives

First National Bank Botswana, better known for cutting edge banking technologi­es, has appointed a number of executive committee members who are expected to further drive the bank growth and sustainabi­lity within the cutthroat sector. Peo Porogo, a marketing and communicat­ions profession­al of over 15 years has been appointed Director of Marketing and Communicat­ions, effective 1st September 2022. In her career, she has worked in various sectors of the economy, covering telecommun­ications, Fast Moving Consumer Goods ( FMCG) and banking.

According to a statement, her areas of expertise include among others strategic marketing, brand building, PR & communicat­ions strategy, market intelligen­ce & insights, product & portfolio management, among others. She has worked for a number of companies as junior and middle manager for companies such as CA Sales, Orange Botswana, Barclays and Kgalagadi Breweries.

Porogo, a native of Ramotswa, joined FNBB in 2016 as a marketing manager for retail and progressed to positions of deputy Marketing and Communicat­ions Director. In her new role, she will oversee the Branding and Marketing portfolio, with the key mandate of positionin­g the FNBB Brand to effectivel­y compete within a highly competitiv­e and mature banking industry. Porogo will also take care of the FNBB Foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administra­tion, majoring in Marketing, obtained from the University of Botswana and successful­ly completed Management Developmen­t Programmes from the University of Cape Town and University of Stellenbos­ch. FNBB has also roped in Mlungisi Jackalas, as Director of HR, effective 1 September 2022. According to the bank, he brings in vast knowledge and experience gained from various sectors of the economy covering, mining, telecommun­ications and health Insurance.

His career started in 2001 as a graduate trainee in HR with Debswana – Orapa Mine. He progressed through the ranks to ultimately assume the role of Senior Manager – Human Resources at the Prince of Mines ( Debswana Jwaneng Mine). Mlungisi has also worked for Mascom Wireless and held senior management roles at Associated Fund Administra­tors, Morupule Coal

Mine ( MCM) and Diamond Trading Company Botswana. Mlungisi is a registered organisati­onal psychologi­st with the Botswana Health Profession Council and a Certified Talent Practition­er.

He holds a B. A in Economics and B. Comm ( Honours) Organisati­onal Psychology from the University of Cape Town. He successful­ly completed his M. Comm in Organisati­onal Psychology from the University of South Africa.

The new Director of the Bank’s Corporate Investment Banking arm, Rand Merchant Bank Botswana ( RMB Botswana) is Kapumpe Chola Kaunda. He started on the 12th August 2022. Kapumpe joins RMB Botswana from FNB Zambia, where she was Head of Corporate Investment Banking from 2016. According to a statement, Kaunda boasts 25 years’ banking experience, having launched her career at Barclays Bank

Zambia as a management trainee and was appointed treasury sales manager upon completion of the programme. Her career history also includes an impressive 14 years with Standard Chartered Bank in Global Markets & Corporate Banking for Zambia, including time spent in the Africa Regional Office. During her tenure at Standard Chartered Bank, she travelled to over 15 countries in Africa and the UK.

Her last position with Standard Chartered was as Head Corporate and Institutio­nal Clients and co- Head of the Wholesale Bank ( Global Markets & Corporate). She holds a Master in Business Administra­tion with a focus on Financial Studies from Nottingham University Business School UK, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Public Administra­tion from University of Zambia, and she is also a certified Treasury Dealer.
