All Hail Kenosi
As women lead Boxing resurgence
Team Botswana, led by the African Champion and Gold medalist, Keamogetse Kenosi, collected six ( 6 ) medals at the African Boxing Championships held in mozambique this past week. Botswana Boxing Association ( BOBA) had sent nine ( 9) boxers to the championship and returned with one ( 1) Gold, two ( 2) Silver and three ( 3) Bronze medals. Four ( 4) of the six medals were won by female boxers, Keamogetse Kenosi ( Gold), Aratwa Kasemang ( Silver), Lethabo Modukanele and Phekie Bele ( Bronze). Upon the teams’ arrival, the national team coach, Thebe Setlalekgosi, during a side interview with this publication, extended a rallying cry for support from all relevant stakeholders as the team readies for qualifications to Paris 2024 Olympics. He further reiterated that female boxers must be respected and allowed an opportunity by their coaches to express themselves in the best way possible.
