Fireworks expected as every team aspires to be champions

- BG correspondent FOOTBALL

The new football season is expected to kick off on the 22nd of October and there is a lot of excitement from most local fans after a long wait before the season could begin.

Supporters are expected to crowd into the stadium, full of hope and expectation, desperate to cheer on their teams, and after a long lay off, players and fans are all oozing with excitement for the new season.

While most fans are dreamers before the first game of a new campaign, there is a thin line that might separate the pretenders from the league contenders. On the lips of many is none other than Gaborone United, who have maintained the bulk of their squad from last season and are looking to maintain their dominance, having won every trophy on offer last season. The Money Machine was a force to be reckoned with, boasting a very perilous attack and a back line as solid as an iceberg; the likes of Thero Setsile, Thatayaone Kgamanyane, Mpho Kgaswane, Onkabetse Makgantai, Mothusi Cooper and Karabo Phiri are the notable names in their attack while their defense is solidified by the likes of Mothusi Johnson, Alford Velaphi and Thato Kebue, among others.

With the experience of Benny Kgomela as head coach, assisted by Pontsho Moloi and Joel Mogorosi, there is no denying that the Money Machine is another contender for the available trophies this season.

With so much pump and fanfare, the Gaborone giants are always going to count on the 12 men to inspire them to the most desired victories and will rely on every single supporter to come forth and encourage the team. On the other hand, Township Rollers under the guidance of Thabo Motang, will want the past to remain behind them, this is a whole new challenge and a fresh chance to shine for the Palastina nation.
