Image makeover completes an artist

- IRENE SHONE BG CORRESPONDENT

Makeover artist, Lucky Leepo says that an image in the world of arts is very important and sells the brand better.

Leepo tells BG Style that most of the time, local artists only take care of makeup but fail to l; ook the part for the occasion. He is a fashion designer and a makeup artist, and says doing these two jobs has enabled him to think outside the box. According to him, the arts industry has been growing and most stylists know very little of what’s required in the industry. “I take my time to watch international fashion shows, to learn and improve my makeup work as well as fashion designing, because my dream is to become the best stylist around,” he says.

He emphasizes that, in as much as people now honour lifestyle events themes, at the help of makeup artists and fashion drsigners, they should also be considerate about the seasons and what type of fabrics they choose for their outfits. “As a stylist, it’s best to consider both make up and accessories for the look of your client, also bear in mind that simplicity is always the key,” he says emphasizing that simplicity is best especially for the formal or corporate event.” Simplicity allows people to express themselves in a creative, yet dramatic way,” he adds. He further says that while working on a particular look for a certain event, he always bears in his mind that he has to do something that can communicate art.

Just like all other creatives within the fashion and makeup space, he says this is the busiest season and he is busy coming up with new ideas to compete internationally. He is of the view that a brand should speak for itself, hence he believes in research. His fashion outlet, Lypoh Couture is well- known for adorning brides as well as designing elegant outfits for casual events. Leepo is currently working on hosting a workshop on makeover to share his thoughts with other relevant creatives.
