UN engages on development agenda
United Nation Botswana has announced intention to deliberate the country’s development agenda at forum with civic society and business community.
The forum plans to put a spotlight on prosperity, deliberating on how the local private sector can drive the gross domestic produce ( GDP) inclusive of sustainability.
The forum is slated for this week under the theme: ‘ Partnerships for increased prosperity and sustainable development for all.’
“The forum offers participants an important platform to learn more about current and emerging development issues, debate strategies for achieving SDGs and explore ways to partner with Botswana and other development partners to contribute to Botswana’s development agenda,” said UN Botswana Resident Coordinator, Zia Choudhury.
He said the discussions will be centred on improved understanding of the UNGovernment 5- year development plans, dialogues around development challenges and opportunities and contribute ideas for improved development strategies and activities.
In addition, the forum will also provide networking opportunity to build partnerships among development partners. Apart from discussing Botswana’s development landscape on people, planet, and prosperity, the forum will also zoom in on ending the cycle of violence against women and children coupled with addressing climate change in Botswana.
Meanwhile, the hybrid forum will attract development partners that include representatives from government, diplomatic missions, leading private sector
representatives, universities and colleges, NGOs, CSOs, media, professionals from legal and financial services, and individual development advocates.
