For Afro Tech lovers, and those who have ben following Caiiro closely, this is the best Christmas present that they can

get for themselves. When you talk of Caiiro, you are talking about a legend. A man who can literally set the house on fire and one of the best talents from the African continent. The Mpumalanga DJ, most popular for his hat, and his skills on the ones and twos, is such a big force in the Afro Tech genre that those who are attending this particular show need to be well hydrated, and ready to be blown away.

South Africa has a number of notable DJ’s who are in the Afro Tech genre. But there is something alluring about Caiiro, who abandoned his studies in Applied Mathematics and chose music instead. One of the defining characters that draws many towards him is his unique sound. He has this Spiritual African tribal beat that is very unique to him. The sound is present in most of his songs, and if you are familiar with his music, you can instinctively tell that this is a Caiiro song. Take for example his most recent song titled Kaos, featuring Argento Dust, that right here is a massive masterpiece of a song. The combination of the two is pure magic, and as for the song, words alone can not explain in detail what this song embodies for those who are in love with this particular masterpiece. The instruments of the bass, and drums are on a whole new level, and will instantly send a listener to an unknown place. Kaos is just one of the many hits that Caiiro has under his belt of original mixes. In 2016, he launched his debut album titled, First Impressions, which catapulted his name into the world stage. His second album, Agora was an electrifying masterpiece with notable hits that include Fela, a song that is still as fresh as the day that it was launched. You also have banging hits such as Yawela, a song that is 6min: 58 seconds. Halfway through Yawela, when he starts with his magic of bringing in transitions and other beats, you are literally in a new dimension, that is the power of Caiiro. At 4 minutes, you will almost take an unscheduled drive just so you savour the sounds without any interruptions. New music that he recently released, Pyramids album continues with the trend of always dishing out hits that are timeless, and worked with the likes of Da Capo and Black Motion. The album has songs such as Lwandle, featuring Pixie L, Let it Shine featuring Khaeda, True love featuring Inga Hina, Around Pyramids, as well as I’ll find you featuring Toshi. Besides these songs, this year alone, he has released some of the best original mixes featuring top acts, ranging from Msaki, Nobuhle, and so many more.

Speaking in an interview with this publication, event organiser, Fish Pabalinga explains that the Afro Tech event was conceptualised as there was a gap in the market for this genre. This year, they have brought other giants of Afro Tech such as Sun- El Musician who performed at both the first and second editions of the event held earlier this year, as well as Enoo Napa, Lemon & Herb and others. He also explains that the event is all about what the public wants, and that when it comes to the line- up, they put it up to the public to pick who they want to see. He illustrates that this can be evidenced on how Sun- El Musician was so in demand that he had to return for another edition. So why Caiiro this time around. He notes that he is very relevant as he has recently released a big album. “He has a hot new album released recently,” he notes, adding that there was a big demand for him. Explaining the format of how they chose Dj’s who make it into the line- up, he says that they leave it to the public to tell them who they want, including the selection of local performers from the Afro Tech genre. “This is a public event, and we leave it to them to tell us what they want,” he says. Pabalinga points out that they have had a good reception since they started with the festival this year, and that they will see if they will carry the event to the next year.
