MISS WORLD IN TOWN as Miss Botswana crowns new queen

The reigning, Miss Worl d , K a rol i na Bielawska, accompanie­d by Miss World- Venezuela are pencilled to attend the Miss Botswana crowning on Saturday. The big finale of a new queen is set to take place at the Open Space located at Fairscape Precinct, Fairground­s.

Many are anxious to see who will take over from the people’s darling, Palesa Molefe, the outgoing Miss World- Botswana and what this new queen will bring to the table. The queen is taking over from a highly successful queen, and it remains to be seen how they will capitalise on the work that Molefe and the organisers of the pageant have done, as they build up to bringing the elusive crown home. The top 10 finalists are: Alipo Makosha, Sebaga

Manyapetsa, Cynthia Kalayakgos­i, Cheshe Tsayang, Lesego Chombo, Tshepho Nthaga, Lorato Kganyapelo, Gontlafets­e Oagile, Goitsemodi­mo Jogwe and Lesego Sejai. One of these ladies will be wearing the new Miss Botswana crown early Sunday. This Saturday, many eyes will be eager to see how the organisers will breathe life into the Fairscape Precinct space, and how the whole set- up will transform the venue, ideally giving it a world class look, equivalent to the Miss World stage. Meanwhile, on Thursday evening, Molefe is slated to have a farewell dinner, which will be held at Cresta Lodge. With days leading to the pageant, event organiser, Ben Raletsatsi explains that the next couple of days are going to be crazy. He notes that they are ready to showcase a spectacula­r event. “We are as ready as we can be,” he confirms. Earlier this week, the new Miss Botswana crown was unveiled. The design of the crown is said to be a tribute and endeavour to preserve traditiona­l heritage. It is designed by La Calla, and manufactur­ed by KGK Diamonds. Speaking at the event, Raletsatsi explained that the country has some of the most expensive diamonds in the world. He shared that in 2019, they decided that a queen would be identified by a crown hence the reveal of this new crown. He further said that they opted to produce the crown using locally sourced diamonds and local crafts. He also shared that this week they would be launching the Beauty Expo, where they will talk about the industry, and its potential on the economy. “This is an Industry that can employ a lot of people, and the world survives on beauty,” he said. He further said that they are going to gradually grow the pageant.
