ISBS implores graduates to create employment
Imperial School of Business and Science ( ISBS) has implored graduates to consider entrepreneurship and create employment, to close the gap to the spiraling unemployment, currently sitting at 26 percent, according to the country’s data authority, Statistics Botswana ( SB).
The call was made at the college’s recent graduation where over 200 graduates from respective faculties were capped for a range of globally recognized programmes. And the programmes included business management, early childhood education, entrepreneurship, logistics and transport, marketing and public relations management, and travel tourism and hospitality management and Association of Accounting Technicians ( AAT). ISBS Managing Director, Nidheesh Sharma urged the graduates to master the art of developing business plans, and approach institutions such as CEDA and LEA for funding so they start their businesses. “As we are all aware, the 21st century is awash with many opportunities and challenges. It is only optimism that can rise above and turn challenges into opportunities. “I, therefore, urge you to acknowledge and take advantage of the government efforts in providing facilities beyond tertiary education and contribute towards economic diversification,” said Sharma. Sharma urged the graduates to confidently face challenges in the job market. “Volunteer where you have to, you will have a step in the door. Whenever you are given an opportunity give it your best. “Research, go beyond the call of duty and be an asset so that your services are needed. Don’t be a normal employee. Be a performer,” said Sharma. ISBS has been operating in Botswana for the past 20 years and has produced several industry leaders for different entities across the country and region and has been a major driver in the country’s education sector. Meanwhile, government recently launched a Labour Market Observatory ( LMO) Governing Body to address unemployment by finding ways to absorb young graduates into the labour market.
