Tea time with Tsompie

Tea connoisseu­r, Tsompie Mokaila will host tea and cake lovers to one of the most exciting afternoons where she will share her recipes and passion for all things cake and tea related. The event, set for November 5th, will be hosted at her Tea Garden in Tlokweng. And for her clients, and tea lovers, the event will afford them the opportunit­y to hear first hand all about tea etiquette, as well as enjoy some of the best teas for the day, courtesy of the Carmien diverse brand of teas.

The event seeks to showcase to Batswana, the diverse teas that are out there, as well as illustrate to them, tea can also be enjoyed not only when it is hot but that iced tea is just as perfect. Previously, event organisers have organised wine and cheese tasting sessions, but are yet to do something like what Mokaila seeks to do.

One of the key highlights of the day is to share her love for home baked cakes with her guests.

Speaking in an interview with this publicatio­n, she explains that these days some people are opting for ready mixes when it comes to cakes and baked goods. She explains that she wants her guests to go back to the same way that her late mother, as well as other mothers enjoyed their baking by doing everything from scratch.

“We have gone away from home baking, and we are now going for instant and ready mix,” she explains.

She further notes that the whole idea behind the event is to allow her guests to see which teas go with which cake. On the day, she will have close to six cake flavours. These include Lemon, Carrot and Pineapple, Opera, Cheese, white chocolate and raspberry Painting a picture about some of the highlights of the day, she notes that they will be serving tea on shots glasses, and that once a guest has identified their favourite tea they can order it. Teas for the day will include Orange Chamomile, Citrus Chai, Floral Berry, Tropical Burst to mention a few. ‘

“Carmein Rooibos tea is something different and they are caffeine free,” she explains. Other proceeding­s of the day will include tea etiquette and fun games.

Guests will be treated to delicious treats that include Canapes, as well as the Gin Tasting. The Gin for the day also comes from the Carmien brands, and is something unique, which she says will add variety to the day.
