To maximise on this diverse portfolio, Training Manager for Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino, Lesego Mongalo explains that Minor has created value adds for Team members working at any Minor Properties and these include: Taskforce programme and the Grow with us Programme.
Explaining what the Taskforce Programme entails, she said that this is where high performing and high potential team members are temporarily deployed on an assignment to work at any of the Minor Hotel Properties anywhere in the world, to support other hotel operations during the opening, acquisitions or already opened hotels. The purpose of the task force, she explains is to inject brand standards and accelerate Minor culture in the workplace.
“Team members impart skills with others, gain insights on international hotel best practices, gain international experience, develop a global mindset, upskill and perfect current skill sets as well as experience personal growth, she explains. She further says that this year, they have sent twelve team members on a task force mission to Qatar from various departments ranging from Housekeeping ( 4), Food and Beverage ( 3), Kitchen ( 3) and Front Office department ( 2). Nine team members are already in Qatar, with two leaving on the 13th of this month and one waiting for his itinerary and could leave anytime from now.
Moving on, she points out that the Grow with us Programme is aimed at providing opportunities for development and career progression internally.
This internal mobility programme, she says provides team members with an opportunity to transfer to other Minor Hotels properties, whether locally or internationally on a permanent basis.
This year, they have had three team members transferring to other Minor properties in the Maldives, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi where they are doing very well, she said.
