Inflation drops
Botswana’s annual inflation dropped by 0.7 percent to 13.1 percent in October, declining from the September 2022 rate of 13.8 percent. This week, Statistics Botswana stated that sectors which contributed significantly to the annual inflation rate in October 2022 were transport ( 7.6 percent), food and non- alcoholic beverages ( 2.2 percent), housing, water, electricity, Gas and other fuels ( 1.0 percent), and miscellaneous goods and services ( 0.8percent). According to Statistics Botswana, the All- Tradeables inflation rate was 17.5 percent in October, registering a decrease of 1.2 percentage points from the September rate of 18.7 percent. The Imported Tradeables inflation rate registered a drop of 1.9 percentage points from 21.6 percent in September to 19.7 percent. The Domestic Tradeables inflation rate rose by 0.7 of a percentage point, from 10.8 percent in September to 11.5 percent in October. The NonTradeables inflation was 6.8 percent, a decrease of 0.2 of a percentage point from the September rate of 7.0 percent.
