Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the Vunani Botswana Women’s Sport Awards, Kesego Kebalaele- Okie has big dreams for the future of women’s sports in Botswana and Africa. She believes that organising and promoting women’s sports is crucial to increasing participation and achieving excellence. Kebelaele- Okie has announced plans to establish the Africa Women’s Sports Awards, which will be held in Botswana in the future.

Speaking at the 2nd annual Vunani Women’s Sports awards ceremony on Saturday, Kesego Kebelaele- Okie expressed gratitude for the success of the event and shared her plans to expand the awards program to include women’s sports across Africa. She noted that women’s sports are often overshadowed by men’s sports, and she believes it is important to recognize and reward excellence in the field. She is confident that her organization can make a difference and help to promote women’s sports on a larger scale.

“We are so proud of the progress we’ve made in recognizing and rewarding women in sports in Botswana. Our journey has been incredible, and we are ready to take it to the next level by expanding our awards program to include women in sports across Africa. We want to show women everywhere that their achievements are valued and that they can be rewarded for their hard work and dedication. We are excited to announce that we will be establishing the Africa Women’s Sports Awards, which will be held in Botswana in the near future,” Kesego Kebelaele said.

Kebelaele- Okie and her partners are dedicated to supporting and recognizing women in sports, as this will help to keep women engaged in the game for a long time. They believe that women need to be acknowledged and rewarded for their hard work and achievements, and they are committed to making that happen.

The awards ceremony held at Lekidi in Gaborone over the weekend was a resounding success, with the winners receiving well- deserved recognition and rewards for their accomplishments.

The awards ceremony was attended by sports enthusiasts, and the Minister of Sports and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare urged women to support and empower each other in the world of sports, to make a positive impact.

“It’s wonderful to see women supporting and encouraging each other, and I hope this trend continues. I urge all of you to promote the growth of women in sports and to refrain from attacking each other. If you have differences, I encourage you to settle them in a respectful and constructive manner, rather than airing them on public platforms.

I want to thank the organizers of the Vunani Sports Awards for creating this platform to recognize and honor women in sports. This is a step in the right direction, and I hope it will continue to grow and inspire more women to participate,” he said.
