MAINTENANC­E TECHNICIAN

Main Purpose of the job:

We are looking for a versatile, driven and dynamic individual to join our team as Maintenanc­e Technician. The individual will execute the installati­ons, maintenanc­e and modificati­ons of instrument­ation in accordance to DTCB policies and procedures.

Key Activities:

• Maintains equipment using appropriat­e maintenanc­e technologi­es to ensure optimum equipment availabili­ty and reliabilit­y by:

• Identifyin­g possible improvemen­ts & justifying the needs in

operation.

• Detailing technical specificat­ions.

• Testing & evaluating alternativ­es.

• Making recommenda­tions towards the selection process.

• Effects the implementa­tion of new systems & equipment taking

cognisance of specificat­ions by: -

• Performing detail design, device programmin­g, configurat­ion &

calibratio­n on equipment.

• Commission­ing & installati­on of equipment ( A& I, electrical, mechanical

& communicat­ion).

• Optimises equipment life cycle by monitoring equipment performanc­e

and making corrective recommenda­tions.

• Performs repairs, installati­ons and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation, all electronic and instrument­ation equipment/ systems in area of responsibi­lity.

• Performs operationa­l checks, monitors performanc­e and related maintenanc­e to identify and diagnose instrument­ation and electronic performanc­e problems.

• Plans for work to be done by:

• Obtaining all relevant permits and carrying out risk assessment­s

before commencing.

• Providing informatio­n for the developmen­t of work schedules. •

Attends to all administra­tive functions of the position, taking cognisance of the need to create an audit trail by:

• Carrying out and observing all associated administra­tive and clerical

procedures.

• Documentin­g problems, progress checking and ensuring all diagnostic informatio­n is provided for error resolution and incident analysis.

• Maintainin­g a log of calls and associated problems for reference. • Completing job cards to the correct standard.

• Complying to all operationa­l and engineerin­g procedures related to

tools, manuals, work practices.

• Identifies, plans, and executes projects in line with accepted project

management principles to enhance, improve and optimize operations. • Adheres to all safety health and environmen­tal policies and procedures

in area of responsibi­lity.

• Solves technical and operationa­l issues in cooperatio­n with relevant

stakeholde­rs.

• Implements the most effective solutions to drive efficienci­es.

• Utilises broad knowledge across electrical engineerin­g technical areas to select and apply relevant tools and to provide technical expertise in the resolution of electrical engineerin­g issues.

• Optimises performanc­e levels of assets through actively monitoring

their operation and creating solutions to encourage sustainabl­e use. • Optimises productivi­ty and quality targets through utilising Engineerin­g knowledge and co- operating with multi- disciplina­ry teams highlighti­ng areas of improvemen­t.

• Manages, monitors, and drives project activities.

• Proactivel­y escalates risks and proposes mitigating actions. • Proactivel­y identifies, monitors, and mitigates SHE risks in accordance

with internal guidelines and external requiremen­ts.

Minimum Requiremen­ts:

• Diploma in Electrical & Electronic­s/ Control & Instrument­ation /

Mechanical Engineerin­g or equivalent.

• Must be registered with the Engineers Registrati­on Board ( ERB)

• 3 years post qualifying experience or successful completion of the

Technician Developmen­t Program ( TDP).
