In a recent interview with BG Sport, Sensei Ofentse Bakwadi, a member of the Gabs Open Karate Tournament Organizing Committee, emphasized the significan­ce of the tournament for athletes looking to showcase their abilities and elevate their standing within the karate community.

He highlighte­d that the Gabs Open Karate Tournament serves as a pivotal platform for athletes to engage in high- level competitio­n, enabling them to garner well- deserved recognitio­n and further their progressio­n in the sport. Sensei Bakwadi underlined the fundamenta­l objective of the Gabs Karate Open Championsh­ips, stating that it is designed to o er local athletes the opportunit­y to gain valuable internatio­nal exposure without the nancial burden of traveling abroad.

“To ensure a successful event, we have implemente­d various initiative­s and strategies. Our preparatio­ns are well underway, and we are utilizing the University of Botswana indoor center to accommodat­e the growing interest in the tournament.

We aim to deliver a world- class event for spectators, athletes, and stakeholde­rs alike. Additional­ly, the tournament will be broadcast live on Botswana Television, providing extensive coverage and exposure,” Bakwadi said.
