Ho’oponopono is a Hawaiian word which roughly translates to ‘ make things right’ or to ‘ make things move back to balance’. e practice is said to teach the importance of love and forgiveness through a process that allows the participant to rid themselves of burdens or ‘ pohaku’ in order to heal.

For self- care, guests will be given a foot massage, an opportunity to explore their artistic side, laughter yoga, and time to unwind.

Laughter yoga, is a practice which is currently being taught by Naseem Essack, who is one of the facilitators, and is a Stress management and Life coach. is is a global laughter exercise which includes elements such as meditation laughter, yogic breathwork, and mindfulness meditation laughter. Tickets for the event are on sale for P1650, and they include breakfast, lunch and supper, as well as a goodie bag.

Speaking in an interview, Farmer explains that the inspiration for the event is based on the fact that these days, many people are stressed and ƒ nd it di Œ cult to cope with endless pressures. She also says that there is an apparent need for people to set aside time for self- care, and need some help to do so. A survey that they carried out has cemented the fact that people really need something like this.

“We will be giving participants practical tools to help them deal with day- to- day stresses,” she explains.

She further explains that this is a one- day retreat, speci ƒ cally to cater for people who may not want to spend the night away from home, and that it is a “ ordable. e event is open to both men and women.

“e main concept of the retreat is that it o “ ers a safe space for self- re ” ection and self- care, with self- help tools that people can take with them and use in the future,” she explains.

Some of the highlights that guests can look forward to include experiencing some time in the quiet African bush, and getting in touch with the healing force of nature, she says.

She further says that they will be addressing connecting with your inner self, how to release that which does not serve you, and de ƒ nition of what self- care is, and how to care for oneself. eir chosen venue, she says is ideal as it is 10 minutes from Game City. It also has the ambience of the quiet African bush, and a beautiful environment but with convenient facilities. “It is in nature, has very comfortable amenities and is close enough to the city so people do not have to travel far, if they live in Gaborone. For those who would like to stay over, there is also the option of accommodation,” she explains.
